…was thumb out on US-191 southbound, Utah, when a white car stopped on the shoulder. Inside was a well-dressed man and the smell of Old Spice. “As far as Moab” was where this ride would take her, and with no real destination, she took the trip.
Barely minutes in, his well-crafted, assurgent hair swayed as he turned his shaded eyes her way, “Have you ever stayed at the Gonzo Inn?” Whether she had or not wasn’t the real question. “Will it get me fed?” was her question.
It did. Steak and sides. Then, over red wine, he gave her clean clothes to wear and free reign over the hotel room while he photographed her for some weird online zine.
After a shower and two bottles polished, she finished him off, let him pass out, took sixty-four dollars cash, the third bottle of wine, and the credit card.
