This cosmetic tube with four compartments is one of the largest and most elaborate objects of its kind. Presumably, it was intended for display, since the complex superstructure makes it virtually unusable as a container. The compartments were made by pinching a tubular parison (gob of glass) vertically to form diaphragms. The wall was decorated by attaching a trail to the side of each compartment just above the base and drawing it up to the rim in eight folds. Each of these four trails was then covered by another trail, which was attached to the lip, pulled down over the entire length of the folds, and pinched in a series of horizontal projections.
